Goodyear

The Goodyear Plant, which you can see on the opposite side of the creek, began life in 1905 as the Durham Rubber Company. Purchased in 1910 by Goodyear Tire and Rubber, the plant installed a dam to provide water for manufacturing rubber products. The site was chosen close to the creek to dispose of the waste products produced during the manufacturing process – a common practice in the early 1900s.
