The Future of Fish Management
The Bowmanville Creek Conservation Group is working to install a video fish counter into the fish bypass channel. The video counter tracks salmon and trout migrating up the river from Lake Ontario. It can also measure and record water temperature and velocities. Fish species and numbers can be documented from the video footage as well as infra-red imagery. The addition of a fish counter to Bowmanville Creek will give conservation biologists a better understanding of fish populations and behaviour and allow us to better manage species in Bowmanville Creek and Lake Ontario.
