Norway Maple
First introduced to North America as an ornamental tree, Norway Maples are found throughout Ontario’s urban centers. It is a popular landscaping tree due to its high tolerance for urban stresses. Norway Maples invade natural urban greenspace areas forming a dense forest canopy that shades out other species. Few species are able to grow under this canopy leading to bare soil exposure and erosion.
