In 1919 Morden opened the Cream of Barley park – a campground with rental cabins, petting zoo, bird sanctuary, restaurant, swimming pool and race track. This park, which eventually became the Bowmanville Zoo, was a popular attraction and as the mill’s business declined, the park’s increased.
