A number of species of salmon and trout can be found in Bowmanville Creek making use of the bypass channel. Pacific Salmon (Chinook, Coho, and Pink), along with Rainbow Trout are introduced species that have become naturalized to the rivers and streams. Atlantic Salmon, Brook Trout and Lake Trout are native to Lake Ontario.
