Emerald Ash Borer

Emerald Ash Borers (EAB) are tiny insects native to Asia. They have caused major economic and environmental damage in southern Ontario. While the insect can only travel a few kilometers each year on its own, people transporting wood (firewood, lumber, logs, etc) can move this pest long distances. There is a prohibition on the movement of firewood and Ash wood outside of designated areas in Ontario.

Several ash trees along this path have been killed by EAB. As you walk, look for small dead or dying trees with small ā€œDā€ shaped holes in the trunk.
